Scholarship Club and Community Awards

These awards are announced at the annual luncheon in May. Some are presented then, others are given at the Haddon Heights High School commencement in June. Students are chosen for these awards based on their expressed career interests, extra curricular activities and grade point averages. With one exception, there is no application form that must be completed.

CLUB AWARDS
Four top ranked students: Highest $2,000; Second, $1,500; Third, $1,250; Fourth $1,000

Elizabeth Jones Academic Excellence Award - for any student with a GPA of 93 or better, $500

COMMUNITY AND INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Grace Temple Baptist Church Scholarship Ministry – for the student with the fifth highest average, pursuing a college education, $500

Dorothea Carter Memorial Award - student needing financial assistance for college, $250

Morris & Alice Smith Leadership Award - student who shows leadership, initiative and a willingness to mentor younger student; GPA must be at least 3.0 - $500

Lawnside Parent Teacher Organization - unsung hero, $50

Dr. & Mrs. Theodore Johnson - excellence in attendance over four years, $100 each

Helen Mae Henderson Teaching Award – student entering teaching field, $250

Edna Jay Sports Award - student outstanding in sports, $100

Helen Mae Henderson Nursing Award - student entering health field, $50

Madge Mitchell Math Award - student outstanding in math, $100

Mayor James W. Bryant/Noel Mayo Art Award -student outstanding in Art & pursuing that field, $100

Melody Moss Walcott Award - student entering law, $100

Amos and Roxie Rogers Award - student pursuing a career in cosmetology or barbering, $100

Ephraim J. & Mary C. Still Award - student showing most improvement in four years, $200

Edna Harper Service Award - student displaying good citizenship/service, $100

Dr. & Mrs. William Young Awards – student with highest average in Social Science, $25; student with highest average in Natural Science, $25

Henry Long Memorial Award - student excelling in Computer Science, $200

Mark Benson Memorial Award - student outstanding in well-rounded the field of Music, $100

Masjid Freehaven Model Citizen Award - service-oriented student with spotless disciplinary record (not necessarily at top of class; exhibits highest moral character), $300

Curtis and Lula Moss Activity Award - student who participated in the most school activities (no service points or academic standing to be considered), $50

Raymond G. Davis, Jr. Memorial Award - student who perseveres to the end (not necessarily at top of class), $150

Magnificent Seven Award - student with best average in four years of English, $100

Sonia Farmer Character Award - student displaying outstanding character, $500

Linese Miller Award - student showing outstanding leadership & initiative, $250

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Wise Award - student with dependability, punctuality traits (not attendance), $50

Dr. & Mrs. Cecil Still Award - outstanding student entering science or medical field, $250

Steve Israel Awards – student outstanding in sports, $500; unsung hero, $500

I.R. & Anna J. Bryant Award - student outstanding in Accounting, $100

Leon N. Williams Law Award - student pursuing a career in law, $200


CONTINUING AWARDS
Book Awards — Formerly $300 for graduating seniors and continuing students, have been temporarily suspended.
