Third Annual Black History Celebration Honors Four
The Lawnside Scholarship Club, Inc., recognized four individuals for their contributions to Lawnside at its Third Annual Black History Celebration on March 19, 2011, at Tavistock Country Club, Haddonfield.
Mrs. Norma P. Boyd Pastor Reggie Johnson Mrs. Thelma L. Long Dr. Milton A. Robinson
The honorees were Norma P. Boyd, former 25-year Club member and director of the Pastoral Care Ministry at Bethany Baptist Church, Lindenwold; Pastor Reggie Johnson, senior pastor-teacher at Grace Temple Baptist Church, Lawnside; Thelma L. Long, retired Lawnside educator and school board member, and Dr. Milton A. Robinson, philanthropist, community activist and a dentist practicing in Barrington.


Second Annual Black History Celebration
At its 65th anniversary and second Black History Celebration on March 27, 2010, the Lawnside Scholarship Club honored past presidents Helen Jay, Dolores Johnson, Barbara Turner and Louise Wright. The ladies served the Club for a total of more than 100 years starting in the 1960s and helping raise thousands of dollars for hundreds of students. Each received a porcelain angel figurine, a small commemorative plaque, a yellow rose and proclamations from the Borough of Lawnside and Camden County.
