I am a very grateful recipient of the Lawnside Scholarship Club’s community awards in 2019! The award proceeds were put towards paying for some of the books I needed for my courses as well as some of my student activity expenses.

With the Lawnside Scholarship Club’s help, I was able to purchase books for school and focus on my academics instead of the costs associated with higher education. I was associated with the Lawnside Scholarship Club during my senior year of high school. It was in that year that I received scholarships from the club. I had the honor of welcoming people to the ceremony on behalf of NAACP Camden County East Youth Council. I was awarded the Elizabeth Jones Academic Excellence Scholarship, Curtis and Lula Moss Memorial scholarship and The Edna Harper Services Award. I was very glad that I was given the opportunity to receive scholarships from the Lawnside scholarship club because it alleviated some of the financial pressure I had in my pursuit for higher education. I was active in LSC during the 2021-2022 school year. I received the Highest Average Award, Elizabeth Jones Academic Excellence Award, Curtis and Lula Moss Memorial Award, Walter A Gaines Natural Science Award, and the Madge Mitchell Math Award. I am very thankful for the $3,000 scholarship money I received from LSC. I am a theatre major, so graduating with as little to no debt is extremely important for my peace of mind. Scholarships have always been a motivator and encouragement for me to pursue higher education, and knowing I had opportunities in my hometown empowered me, even more, to work harder. Best,
